ÁbacoClub May 2020 – Activities Calendar
It’s hard to believe how much our lives have changed since our last newsletter. We were looking so forward to making things happen and to carry out all the plans we had organized for you. I know it has been a great disappointment for all of us but on the other hand, we are grateful to have had the opportunity to keep close and to know everyone is keeping safe and we have found new ways of helping you. We have received emails and comments from you appreciating our help and this is so very rewarding. Caring. People helping people, that’s what it’s all about.
All of our activities have been postponed until further notice but have in mind our activities online! ☺ These are the activities we have recently had and new ones we have planned for you in the coming weeks:
Wednesday, April 29th: Spanish Conversation Workshop with Sofia-Let’s go to a café and get to know one another.
In this workshop we will use typical phrases, questions and posible answers when getting to know someone and ordering at a café. Remember, making yourself understood is what it’s all about.
Wednesday, May 6th: Mobility and Functional Movement Workshop with Andrea.
Andrea guides us through a very gentle and thorough mobility class to keep us active and our bodies healthy. By the end of the class you will stand taller and your joints will won’t feel so rusty. Believe me, she knows what she’s doing, she’s my personal instructor.
Wednesday, May 13th: Mindfulness and Motivation Workshop.
Maria, who is a psychologist and mediator for Tindaya Social will teach us strategies to help us get through these pressing times and how to keep motivated. Those of you who attended our Memory Workshop will remember her.
Wednesday, May 20th: Showcooking with Sofia (Typical Spanish Appetizers).
Sofia welcomes you to her kitchen where she will show you how to make “boquerones en vinagre” and make the very famous tapa called “matrimonio” consisting of anchovies and boquerones. Also a very typical salad from the Comunidad Valenciana. Remember to enjoy a vermouth while watching.
Wednesday May 27th: Spanish Conversation Workshop with Sofia (Let’s get an apointment).
In this workshop, we will practice different situations where we will need an appointment. Whether it’s going to the Dental Clinic, the Drs’ or even to get our oil changed at the garage, we need to know how to explain what we want and know what questions might come up.
